HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Tom Morey, a surfer and beach lover, is credited with inventing the first bodyboard in his backyard in the early 1970s. Inspired by the desire to create a more accessible and enjoyable way to ride waves, Morey crafted the prototype of what would become the modern bodyboard using innovative materials and design techniques. This invention revolutionized the sport of wave riding, providing surfers with a new way to experience the thrill of the ocean.
Bobby Szabad was one of Tom Morey's earliest collaborators and team riders during the formative years of bodyboarding. Szabad worked as one of Morey's first backyard factory workers, contributing to the production and refinement of the early bodyboard designs. Additionally, he became one of the inaugural members of the Morey Boogie team, showcasing the potential and excitement of bodyboarding to the surfing community.
Founding of BZ Bodyboards
As Bobby Szabad continued his journey in the surfing industry, he played a pivotal role in the development and production of bodyboards at Morey's Kransco plant. However, driven by a vision to push the boundaries of high-performance bodyboarding equipment, Szabad eventually decided to strike out on his own. In the process, he founded his own company named BZ (Bobby Szabad), which quickly gained recognition as a leader in crafting top-quality, high-performance bodyboards.
Since its inception, BZ Bodyboards has remained synonymous with innovation and excellence in the realm of bodyboarding. The company's commitment to producing cutting-edge designs and utilizing advanced materials has solidified its reputation as one of the premier brands in the industry. BZ bodyboards are celebrated for their durability, performance, and ability to meet the evolving needs of wave riders worldwide.
